Cellulite is a universal problem, and if you have it, you want it gone…for good.  The tiny lumps and bumps we know as cellulite can have a major impact on a woman’s self esteem. So much so, that for years, medical science has tried to find many solutions.  Unfortunately, nothing has successfully addressed the problem except to offer a temporary fix. In 2012, the cosmetic laser developer, Cynosure, received FDA approval for Cellulaze cellulite reduction, a minimally invasive procedure that attacks cellulite at its source.  Since then, thousands of procedures have been performed with remarkable and lasting results.

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is a structural problem that exists underneath the skin.  It consists of three basic components:

  1. Contracted fibrous septae.  Fibrous septae are tiny fibers that connect the skin to deeper tissues.  They form a lattice work that keeps the skin in place.  However, when these fibers contract, they pull the skin down, creating dimples in the skin.
  2. Herniated blebs of fat.  When the tissues under the skin become weak, small concentrations of fat push closer to the skin surface and cause a bump on the surface of the skin.
  3. Thin skin. When collagen breaks down (as it does with aging and chronic sun exposure) the skin becomes thin and loses its elasticity.  This amplifies the appearance of the lumpy bumpy texture of the skin.

Cellulaze Cellulite Reduction Attacks Cellulite at Its Source

Understanding the components of cellulite, we can understand why many of the fad treatments haven’t worked in the past, and start to understand why Cellulaze is successful.  Cynosure’s 3D side laser system is an advancement in fiberoptic laser technology that allows the surgeon to direct energy precisely to the problem tissues.  First, it releases the fibrous attachments that cause dimpling.  Second, it melts the small herniated blebs of fat that cause the lumps.  Finally, by directing the laser energy directly to the underside of the skin, the treatment will stimulate the production of new collagen formation.  Over the course of several months, the skin will actually thicken and even improve in elasticity.

We have found people are getting excellent results with Cellulaze.  The procedure is performed in our office, using local anesthesia and requires only one treatment.  There is minimal downtime, the recovery is fast, and the results are long-lasting.
